Description
Inspiration
I haven't done any photomanipulation in a long time. I think part of the reason is simply lack of time, but I also feel like I've been focusing more on my photography (and hopefully my writing again). I made this for `nycterent's Gift Giving Game, which along with the rave and some personal gifts, was the climax of my Christmas celebrations here on deviantART.
My secret Santa victim was:
I've known Sara for quite a while, but we've never talked a whole lot, so I used this opportunity to get to know her (secretly, of course). I read a whole lot of her work and I was extraordinarily impressed. She's a wonderful person and a really, really talented writer.
Technique
I tried several different designs inspired by her work, but eventually decided to use There Are No Stars, which actually was featured as a Daily Deviation in 2009.
I decided to use a skyline of New York City and a phrase from the concluding paragraph:
Yes, it is.
Merry Christmas, Sara.
Special mentions
~mode-de-vie and `nycterent for obvious reasons.
The skyline stock is from this shot by *Designdivala.
The texture is from a stock by ~struckdumb.

My eyes flicker open. It is still raining. You are still gone, probably on Eighth Street, plucking on your guitar strings, hoping to score a buck. Patiently, I wait until nightfall, when you will walk through my door and I will be happy. I realize now that life is bad when you're not in it, and stops abruptly when you return. There are still no stars in New York City.Isn't that brilliant?
Yes, it is.
Merry Christmas, Sara.

haha, yes, but if you come an hour and a half from NYC, up by where I live, you shall see farms, and on a beautiful clear night, you shall see lady moon and a sky full of stars. <3
